Schirmer/Mosel, Munich
First edition
Condition: A very good copy
The first and most significant attempt to document a Beuys action in book form. In May 1974 at Rene Block's New York gallery, Beuys spent seven days locked in a room with a wild coyote in the performance I Like America and America Likes Me. Caroline Tisdall's photographs and accompanying text capture the wordless dialogue between man and animal. This first German edition, long out of print, remains one of the most sought-after documents of postwar performance art.
