Nobuyoshi Araki is one of Japan's most well-known—and often controversial—modern photographers. His work has sometimes led to arrests for breaking obscenity laws, but he continues to explore subjects that are usually censored or seen as shameful in Japan. Tokyo Lucky Hole is one of his most famous and controversial books, documenting the Japanese sex industry. Araki takes on the role of an obsessive photographer who keeps shooting, even while getting involved in the scenes himself—acting as a relentless voyeur. In the original Japanese edition, government censors covered exposed genitals with black stickers. The book includes over 350 black-and-white photogravures and comes with a rare bellyband. The text is in Japanese.
