Nagashima's debut photobook, published at age 22, became a landmark in Japanese photography. Her provocative self-portraits and nude family photographs caused a sensation and effectively launched the 'girl photographer' movement of the mid-1990s alongside Hiromix and Mika Ninagawa. She won the Parco Award in 1993 and later shared the Kimura Ihei Award (2000). Published by the now-defunct Fuga Shobo, first editions are a sought-after collector's item.
