Published on the occasion of Daido Moriyama's 1995 exhibition at Taka Ishii Gallery, Imitation is one of the photographer's most elusive publications. Produced in a numbered edition of 500 copies and designed by Issay Kitagawa, the book brings together forty-three black-and-white photographs that explore repetition, reproduction and the instability of the photographic image. Long out of print and increasingly difficult to source, Imitation remains an important publication from a pivotal period in Moriyama's career.
