Le confort moderne
Fanzine printed for the exhibition J'adore Poitiers, the brochure compiles a set of (self)portraits by Christophe Brunnquell.
Christophe Brunnquell is a multi-talented artist, active in the retail industry, artistic consulting, photography, and fashion. He has been the artistic director of Purple Fashion since its creation and is occasionally associated with that of Purple Journal. For the exhibition "J'adore Poitiers," he deploys a set of images around Cindy Sherman's statement "That's me." An attempt to inhabit monstrous images that mix naivety and perversion, self-portraits and laughing freaks. He envisions the exhibition as both an extension of the studio and a picture book in construction. A distanced autobiography appears in the background of this protean work. A multitude of self-portraits of the child artist subjected to various effects of distortion, cropping, and aging; erotic series that are falsely mawkish or maliciously explicit; his name and signature in full slip from the motif to the logo or generic brand.
